Links and Blogs

There are so many website and blogs on Rome, Lazio, and Italy in general that it can get really difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. Here is a selection of those that I find most interesting and useful (drop me a tweet if you think you should be listed here)

Useful information for Rome (some are websites, others are blog posts on other blogs):

  • Insider's Guide to traveling around Rome (link to The Rome Journal)
  • Rome's Information Booths - where they are and what they can do for you (link to Ron in Rome blog)
  • Roma&Piu - a great new website with loads of information about what's on in Rome and the Province of Rome (in English!)
  • Buzz in Rome - a what's on 'under-the-skin' guide to Rome, with details of the latest exhibitions, concerts, bars and restaurants
  • Browsing Rome - useful travel tips and insider guides from someone who lives there
  • Trenitalia - for both local and Italian-wide train travel
  • ATAC (Rome transport)
  • RomaPass - details on a 'tourist discount card' for transport and museums
  • Revealed Rome -  tips and tricks on what's not to miss in Rome.

Italy in general:

  • Italy Chronicles - a brilliant blog that's frequently updated with everything about Italy, from news, politics to quizzes and guides
  • Italytutto - for a comprehensive guide to all the Italy-related blogs
  • Arttrav - an art, travel, and Italian expat-lifestyle blog, focusing on Florence and Tuscany
  • Elegant Etruria and 50 years in Italy - tourism, culture, history, and local knowledge that is second to none, by local writer and historian Mary Jane Cryan, who has lived in Northern Lazio since 1965.
